In this update:

A time of mourning

Our thoughts are with those who mourn the loss of loved ones. Knowing that we live in New York City, not too far from the World Trade Center target, Ambassador John Hamilton called us on Tuesday afternoon to check on our personal safety. He then assured us that a Consular Officer from the U.S. Embassy in Lima would immediately visit the prison to inform Lori - he knew Lori would be worried because she has access to radio in her cell and TV in the hallway. We are grateful to Ambassador Hamilton for his concern.

Lori sent a message that her heart goes out to all those who are suffering and joins us in believing that only through understanding, tolerance, and respect for each other can we survive as a people and build a better world community.
