News from Lori's Parents

In this update:

Washington DC Vigil Cancelled

We expect that President Fujimori, in his upcoming travels through Washington D.C., will be "reminded" that Lori's continued wrongful incarceration is unacceptable. We feel that a public demonstration at this time is unnecessary.

Urgent Action: Call or Fax White House

Given that Peruvian President Alberto Fujimori will be in Washington D.C. on February 4th and 5th, please CALL or FAX President Clinton, urging him to tell President Fujimori that continued wrongful incarceration of Lori Berenson is unacceptable.

The White House "hotline" telephone number is 202-456-1111.

The White House fax number is 202-456-2461 (Attention: Helen, Agency Liaison 6)

Perú Moves Four Prisoners Into Lori's Wing

After 115 days of total isolation, this past weekend four prisoners were moved into cells near Lori so that she can converse with them. As of Sunday, she had not been permitted to mix with them, or any other prisoners, during her one hour yard time but there is hope that this will happen in the near future.

We want to thank all of you who wrote to officials in the U.S. and in Perú, condemning Lori's solitary confinement and for responding to the Amnesty International Urgent Action Appeals.
